centrozoon – The Room of Plenty

released 09 November 2014 | a collection of recordings from their We Will Tongue You Tour 2011

In the fall of 2011, after several years without live appearances, centrozoon embarked on a 11 date tour of Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria. Having never played live in this formation before, the band simply trusted their musical intuition and went into the first concert without any prior rehearsals. The final piece from that Berlin performance now also marks the finale of this album. centrozoon concerts, all composed in the moment, can go anywhere from hectic, percussion-driven, stop-and-go music to ambient soundscapes or twisted and distorted polyphony. The Room of Plenty represents some of those latter, more brooding creations across five nights.

The WWTY tour, which included several radio performances, also served as a launch platform for Bonestarter, the band’s homemade crowd-funding campaign for their studio album, Boner. Launched late at night after a loud and powerful concert in Bielefeld (represented here with the first two tracks), the campaign ran on their website without the help of a dedicated platform, and helped finance the manufacturing of the album and the CD release of two separate mixes.

After numerous studio and live-in-the-studio releases, The Room of Plenty is centrozoon’s first ever live album. Beautifully mixed by Marziano Fontana and mastered by Markus Reuter, it does convey some of the raw energy of the live concerts while being a complete work in its own rights.
